Welcome to the South Waikato District Libraries

Council provides a wide range of professional library services to meet the recreational, educational, reading and information needs of the community. A range of other services are also available, including large-print collections, Maori, Pacific Island and other ethnic collections, an audio visual collection, internet, inter-library loan services and a toy library.

There are three libraries in the South Waikato District, located in Tokoroa, Putaruru and Tirau. The opening hours do vary, so please have a look at the times below.

TOKOROA  LIBRARY HOURS
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Wednesday: 9.30 a.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Saturday: 9.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

PUTARURU LIBRARY HOURS 
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Wednesday: 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Saturday: 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

TIRAU LIBRARY HOURS
Monday to Friday: 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Saturday: 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

 

eBooks and audiobooks now available for download!

Nove-L (Northern Virtual e-Library) is a digital media platform where you can download eBooks and audiobooks to your computer or portable device. This is a free service for members of the South Waikato District Libraries and accessible 24/7. OverDrive is accessed through the Nove-L website.

To use OverDrive, you will need to log-in using your library card number and PIN.
NOTE: You must place a "B" in front of your library card number (e.g. B*****)
If you do not yet have a PIN, please contact the library so staff can set one up for you.

The first time you use Overdrive, you will need to download some free software to your computer or mobile device.

Follow the steps in the 'Help' section of our Nove-L OverDrive Homepage to set yourself up. You only need to do this the first time you use OverDrive or if you want to use a new device to access your eBooks and audiobooks.
