Council also owns The Plaza in Putaruru. This is a district facility and is managed through the South Waikato Arts Trust contract. Please see The Plaza for more information.

The new-look Plaza is managed and operated by the South Waikato Arts Trust. The trust has worked extremely hard to fundraise and oversee the redevelopment of The Plaza to the modern facility residents can enjoy today. The re-development has transformed The Plaza and the trust has more up its sleeve!

The Plaza is the flagship centre for the performing arts and cultural activities in the district, but also functions as a gathering place for the local community. The Plaza hosts a diverse range of events, from The New Zealand Ballet and Opera to movies and local dance competitions. There is no other facility like this in the South Waikato, with its 520 seating capacity, nine bar fly tower and spacious stage areas.
