Talking Pole Artists
The next Talking Pole Symposium will be held in late 2012. A variety of media is being considered for the event, and artists should make contact to discuss their proposals as soon as possible. Sculptures which mix two or more media will be preferred.
All accommodation and living expenses will be paid, along with a modest fee for the artists. The organisers will keep all sculptures produced; however artists are free to bring pieces to sell during the event if they wish.
Artists need to be able to produce a tall sculpture in the time available with their own tools. We are hoping to have a huge variety of styles and themes and will be looking to the artists themselves to come up with a design. Artists are encouraged to propose a wide range of materials for their sculpture and even to mix them in their artwork.
The Symposium is a chance for artists who participate to swap ideas and share experiences and skills. Once again it is planned that local artists will team up with carvers from overseas countries, and work and associate together over the duration of the event.
